An opportunity to look at the underpinnings of Autism, what is happening in the brain and the sensory systems, communication and the therapeutic environment.
The course will cover the difficulties autistic people can face when it comes to communication, processing and understanding other people and the ways we as counsellors can connect and help autistic people.
This training is aimed at professionally trained counsellors and Psychotherapists, or counsellors in training.
In summary, the course will look at:
- the way the Autistic brain is wired
- the sensory world
- communication
- the therapeutic environment

About the trainer
Jemma is a trained and experienced professional, offering support to autistic individuals and their families. She has been working with people on the spectrum since the completion of her Psychology Degree in 2006. In 2013 she co-founded Autus Cumbria Ltd, a not-for-profit organisation supporting individuals in the local area. She is also co-author of a new book, Responsive Communication.
