EXPLORING THE EMOTIONAL MEANING OF FOOD
A one-day workshop for everyone – to discover the links between physical and emotional experiences of food and eating
Through a variety of activities, we will explore how and why we use food to express what we feel and how this applies to personal and/or professional life.
Our aim is to enable participants to identify the positive purposes of food and to consider how to promote these personally and/or professionally.
In the first part of the workshop we think about hunger and how physical and emotional appetites are interconnected. We also learn why it is so often FOOD that we use to express what we feel.
We move on to explore how eating patterns develop and the many ways in which food can be used destructively in, or to enhance, relationships.
In the afternoon we consider how we use food personally and what influences the choices we make about the food we eat. We continue to look at how our physical digestive processes parallel our emotional experience.
There is then an opportunity to reflect on how the concepts explored during the workshop can be applied professionally and/or personally.
